ANTIQUE MIRRORS
We make unique mirrors using water gilding to apply a wide variety of leaves to the rear of the glass. Using platinum, palladium, various colours of gold and silver as well as a number of other metals to create a “Verre Églomisé” finish. The vintage or “antiqued” finish is created by distressing the leaves through a mechanical or chemical process before finishing the rear of the mirror.
GILDED MIRROR FRAMES
The process starts with careful preparation of the surface as it must be smooth and flawless to receive the gold leaf; it can be made by layering gesso and bole in the traditional way, or using newer synthetic materials. By combining the broad range of frame and mirror finishes a wide range of beautiful overmantel or decorative wall mirror styles can be achieved..
