VERRÉ ÉGLOMISÉ

“The sampling process is the part of the job that I enjoy most. I love to experiment combining different materials, techniques and designs. It requires time and patience to achieve exactly what a client is looking for but the result is always worth it.”

VERRÉ ÉGLOMISÉ FINISHES

We offer a range of bespoke glass finishes all created using traditional Verre Églomisé techniques.

APPLICATIONS

Our glass is used in a wide variety of ways. A wall can be covered with a large panel or small pieces can be assembled to create a patterned and reflective surface. Typical uses include:

  • Decorative panels for walls and ceilings.

  • Kitchen splash-backs.

  • Doors for built-in wardrobes.

  • Table tops and decorative panels for furniture.

About Verré Églomisé

Verre Églomisé is an old French term referring to the process of applying both a design and gilding onto the glass. It is now used to identify a simple gilded glass panel. Verre means glass and Églomisé comes from Glomy, which is the last name of an 18th-century Parisian picture-framer.

The metal leaf is adhered using a gelatine adhesive, which results in a highly reflective finish, or using oil-based adhesives to achieve a more matte finish. The gilding process can be combined with reverse painting before the gold leaf is applied to create a wide variety of patterns or even complete images.
